Time Out for Family

We left our boat in Peoria, IL last Wednesday to travel to Des Moines for our granddaughter's wedding. The next couple of days were a whirlwind of activity as last minute details were taken care of and we all "rehearsed" for the big event. Our granddaughter has a nine month old baby and "Ma" and "Pa", as Flint and I are called by our great-grandchildren, were in charge of sweet Addie during the early part of the wedding day. She has to be the most sweet-tempered baby we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She smiles and chatters all the time until it's time to sleep and then she lays down and goes to sleep with a smile on her face. Amazing! The wedding was beautiful and it was so good to be with our family for such a special occasion.

We intended to go back to the boat on Wednesday of this week, but due to all the flooding on the Illinois and Mississippi rivers, we aren't going to be able to travel 0n the rivers until early next week so we will be staying in Des Moines until the weekend. There are many "looper" boats that are stuck in marinas and on lock walls, waiting for the flooding to subside. A lot of debris that is being carried down the rivers would be very dangerous for boat traffic and the current is running extremely fast. It might give us some great mileage for our fuel consumption, but I don't think we want to travel with telephone poles and refrigerators!

We will hopefully be able to report some travel progress to you by the middle of next week. Pray for the loopers who are stuck in places where they have no services for food, pump-outs or fuel. Back with you in a week.
