We have finally started the loop! We were able to begin our journey on Thursday at 1 PM and reached Chesapeake City by 7:15 where we anchored in the basin. We met two other loopers who were from Michigan and Florida who have been traveling together since October. We were all going to Cape May in the morning so we decided to travel together. We left Chesapeake City at about 8:30 AM so that we wouldn't be bucking the incoming tide the whole way down. It is amazing how much difference it makes in your speed when you use the tide to help you. It added about three knots to our speed when it turned about half way through the trip. Of course, it took about two knots away from our speed when we were running against it, but it's always more exhilarating to think about the added speed.
Flint is feeling much better after his Monday bout with a UTI and prostatitis. He says he must be an old man now because he considers that to be an old man's problem. They called us from the urologist's office today as we were running down the Delaware Bay to let us know that his culture showed that he did have an infection. Duh!!
We were really tired when we reached Cape May so we heated up our pot roast for the third night in a row. It gets better each time we partake! It's too bad it is all gone. We have quite a bit of food on board so we won't have to go to the store anytime soon. I find that I get hungry for a snack in the middle of the afternoon, so I'm going to need to store up some healthy snacks.
We are going t0 go out into the Atlantic and run up the coast of New Jersey tomorrow to Manasquan. It will be another long day, but we won't have to run through the Jersey ICW, which is shallow and narrow and very winding.
We thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for us as we begin this journey. It is a very scary prospect because we don't know what we will be facing each day and we are not sure we are capable of all that we have to accomplish to complete this adventure. I have to learn how to understand "man-speak" and Flint needs to understand "woman-speak". I realize if anyone has a male-female relationship, they need to do that, but when you are together 24/7 and you have certain tasks to accomplish, the learning curve gets very steep, very quickly.
We will check back in with you early next week and let you know how our weekend went. We are hoping to reach New York by Sunday afternoon, which should be very exciting.

Delighted to know you're on your way at last! It must be interesting to talk and share info. with other 'loopers'.
Imagine you are settling in now and feeling a bit more relaxed after several days/nights on the water. After the stretch to NY you will gain even more confidence.
Leslie, had to smile about your comments on being together 24/7. I don't expect either of you to be swimming back to 'start'. It will work - you love each other and have a common goal!!
God be with you - Betty
Hey-
Great to see you made it off. Going to be about 95 today so won't be doing much today outside. At least you will be cool out in the ocean. Remember to put out that trolling rod! Will be following your progress.
